A Quick Look at Maintaining Your Furnace

One of the most important things that you can do in order to extend the life and use of your furnace is to get it serviced every single year. By getting it serviced, you will notice that it works a lot better, and that you won’t need to call  for furnace repair.

Here are a few of the tasks that furnace repair Evanston will do during a service appointment.

-    The service professional will check your pilot light and any of the ignitors that are used to help “kick on” the furnace. If these aren’t working properly, your home won’t heat up , nor will it get up to the set thermostat temperature.

-    There are several burners located in your furnace. They often need the most repair. The furnace repair person will take them out, clean them off, and replace any of them that need to be replaced - preventing future issues from happening.

-    The professional will also be sure to check all of the pressure gauges. Are they working? Are the fail safes in place? Is the pressure alright, or is it too high or too low? By checking all of these different factors, your service person has an idea as to whether or not they will need to replace certain things or if they will just need to clean it up and the furnace will be ready to go.

-    The air filter gets clogged up really easily, typically, needing to be changed on a biannual basis, and sometimes, more often. It will at least get checked, if not replaced, during a service appointment.

-    Inspecting the entire unit is one of the most vital things that your service person can do. By doing a full inspection, they can make sure that there aren’t any little cracks or anything else that indicates a future problem in the system. Even the smallest of cracks could end up causing the pressure to go down, thus making it harder to heat up. Clogs can cause the pressure to go up and can cause a catastrophic failure. Either way, you want to make sure the problems are caught and resolved.

-    Last but not least, your professional will check the gas for leaks and to make sure that it’s going through the system correctly. Gas leaks can also be very dangerous. Checking to ensure that they aren’t there is incredibly important.

During the winter months, you want to make absolutely certain that you are able to get the heat that you need. Getting your furnace serviced can prevent the need for Carrier Furnace Repair and can make for a much more pleasant winter season.
